How the 23 year old founder of Augur and now Co-Chief Investment Officer for top crypto fund Pantera Capital sees blockchain tech upending the global financial industry
I had the great pleasure to sit down with Pantera Capital’s President Bill Healy, and wunderkinder Joey Krug for the first taping of my new video cast, and I am honored to share it with the Medium community. We engaged in wide-ranging conversation that touched on the value of a college education to how we transform blockchain tech from a science project still in Alpha into a powerful distributed infrastructure. The dream is a more private, secure, peer-to-peer, power-decentralized and less institutionalized world.
“Just as the Internet was the underpinning of a new information infrastructure, blockchain tech and cryptocurrency will be the underpinning of a new financial infrastructure. Neither was, nor will be, built overnight,” says Joey.
Bill manages capital formation and investor relations for Pantera. Prior to joining Pantera, he co-founded Deutsche Bank’s Hedge Fund Priority Client group and managed ING Barings’ emerging markets institutional debt sales team. Bill began his career advising multinational corporations on cross-border funding activities of their Latin America-based operations.
Joey started programming in Applesoft BASIC at 10 years old on an Apple II GS. Prior to joining Pantera, Joey cofounded Augur, a decentralized platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows any user to create a prediction market. Augur was one of the first ICOs and passed the $1 billion market cap in January 2018.
